What's new
Every update to Jupjup, newest first. Chrome installs updates on its own.
0.3.0 Next update
- How much of this video will I understand? On YouTube, Jupjup reads the whole Korean subtitle track and shows the share of words you know, with the new words most worth learning.
- Hear the line again. Turn it on in Settings, and saving from YouTube subtitles keeps that line's audio with the card, in reviews and in Anki.
- English → Korean practice. Once a word sticks Korean → English, it also comes back the other way: its meaning, and the sentence you found it in with a blank to fill. Each direction has its own schedule. You can turn it off in Settings. Anki gets a matching "Meaning → Korean" card.
- See when you can read a whole sentence. Sentences made only of words you know, including one you learned this week, get a soft highlight, and subtitle lines glow. Hover for which new word made it readable, and save the sentence in one click.
- A Words page built for thousands of words. Your known words are grouped by how common they are, with the ones you don't know yet listed first so you can fill the gaps.
- The right meaning first. Words with several meanings now show the common one (시장 is "market", not "hunger"), using the National Institute of Korean Language's learner list, and context picks the rest: 배를 타다 is a boat, 배가 고프다 is your belly, 눈이 오다 is snow. The other meanings are listed under "Also".
- Konglish makes sense. Words like 서비스, 스펙, and 헬스 show what they mean in Korea, and loanwords say where they come from ("from English: hand phone").
- Steadier hover cards. Cards stay open when you move onto them, show when you already know a word, and keep the video paused while you hop between subtitle words.
- Every word in a subtitle is hoverable, including names and numbers.
- Subtitle History you can replay. Each earlier line shows its time; ↺ jumps back to it.
- Anki sends never fail on "duplicates", so two words saved from one sentence both go in.
- See where learners pick up words. If you share anonymous counts, your saves now count toward a chart on this site by kind of site (YouTube, webtoons, news…), never the site itself.
- Clearer charts and counts on the dashboard: every day labeled in "Coming up", and "words you know" is the same number everywhere.
0.2.1 October 2026
- First release. Hover any Korean word on a page or in a subtitle, save words and sentences, and review them with spaced repetition. Works on YouTube, Netflix, and most websites.
